FAQ

Are there any cruises scheduled to depart from Haifa Port during 2024/25?
Due to the current security situation in the country, we are updating that all cruises departing from Haifa Port have been temporarily suspended for the coming months. The safety and welfare of our passengers and crew remain our top priority. We are happy to offer a range of alternative cruises departing from other ports.
What is the tipping policy and pricing of Royal Caribbean?
Guests who choose not to prepay their gratuities at the time of booking will be automatically charged a daily gratuity to their SeaPass account, as follows:
$21 per day per guest for guests in suites of any type;
$18.50 per day per guest for all other room categories.
The collected gratuities are distributed among the staff, including the dining room team, culinary team, stateroom attendants, hotel services team, and other onboard teams contributing to the overall cruise experience.
Additionally, an 18% gratuity will be automatically added for all beverage purchases and beverage package transactions, specialty dining packages, room service, and mini-bar purchases, as well as spa and salon purchases onboard. For pre-booked services, a 20% gratuity will be automatically added.
Guests can adjust the gratuity amount per their choice by contacting Guest Services onboard at any time before the morning of departure from the ship.
Guests sailing under group bookings should check with their group leader for exact gratuity details.
This does not apply where expressly prohibited by law.
Should I check-in in advance?
It is highly recommended to check-in in advance online on the cruise company's website. The process can be done from 45 days to four days before the cruise. Make sure all your booking details and personal information are correct (if there are errors, contact your booking agent immediately for corrections).
Ensure to provide the required information fully and accurately during the check-in, or you may not be allowed to board the ship. Upon completion, ensure you have the Set Sail Pass, which you need to present at the check-in counter at the port along with your passport.
You can also complete the check-in process directly at the port before boarding.
What should I remember to take with me for the cruise?
Just before you leave home, it is very important to ensure you have the following documents, without which you cannot start your cruise vacation:
- Set Sail Pass
- Cruise Ticket
- Passport valid for at least six months
- All required entry visas for the countries where the ship docks. Note: Cruises departing from the USA require a multi-entry visa (M)
- Flight tickets
- Travel Insurance
(Captain icon) Tip from our cruise advisors – Before the first day of the cruise, it is recommended to pack a small bag with all your travel documents, a change of clothes, swimwear, and prescription medications. This way, you can start enjoying your cruise vacation from the first moment you board the ship.
What to expect on embarkation day?
You should arrive at the port at least three hours before the ship's departure time (departure time is on your cruise ticket). The responsibility to arrive on time at the port lies with you, unless you are arriving at the ship via the cruise company's transfer. Occasionally, the cruise company sets specific boarding times for passengers, a notice about this will be sent to you, and it is recommended to arrive at the designated time to avoid waiting.
There is no restriction on the amount of luggage you can bring onto the ship, but you should consider the restrictions for luggage on flights. Upon arrival at the port, the ship's crew will tag your suitcases with special tags to ensure they are delivered to your cabin as quickly as possible.
At the end of the check-in process, you will be issued a ®SeaPass card, a magnetic card used throughout the cruise as identification for boarding and disembarking, as a key to your cabin, and for making purchases on the ship.
How can I pay for onboard expenses?
All prices on Royal Caribbean ships are listed in US dollars. The ships operate on a "cashless" basis, and payments can only be made with the SeaPass® card, which will be issued to you before boarding. For any purchase or paid service onboard, you must pay with the card, similar to using a credit card.
You can select in advance during check-in how you would like to settle your onboard expenses - either in cash, in which case you'll need to leave a deposit, or with a credit card, where you can enter the details in advance or provide them later onboard. If you choose to pay in cash or with a different payment method than the credit card you provided as a deposit, you will need to visit the guest services desk to settle the account on the last evening of the cruise. If you choose to pay with the credit card provided as a deposit, no action is required, and you will be charged automatically.
At the guest services desk, you can exchange different currencies or cash traveler's checks. Additionally, all ships have an ATM (a fee will be charged for this service).

Tip from our cruise advisors – You can track your personal expense account at any time via the Royal Caribbean app or on the dedicated TV channel in your room.
Do I need to bring a power adapter on the ship?
All cabins and suites on the ship are equipped with two types of outlets: an American outlet (two flat prongs) with 110 volts and a European outlet (two round prongs) with 220 volts.
(Captain's icon) Tip from our cruise consultants – If you want to bring electrical devices that have a three-prong plug (like a laptop charger, for example), you need to bring an adapter to use the European outlet in your room. Also, it's recommended to bring power strips, as the number of outlets in each room is relatively low.
What items cannot be brought on board?
Do not pack or bring on board any item described as dangerous or illegal, which may harm the operation of the ship, harm passengers and the ship's crew, or harm their environment. Such as:
- Weapons (including exact replicas), ammunition, martial arts equipment, and self-defense items such as handcuffs, pepper spray, various clubs, etc.
- Sharp objects (including knives and scissors)
- Illegal drugs and prohibited substances
- Items with an open flame or items that emit heat, such as candles, incense, coffee machines, electric kettles, electric pans, irons, or hot plates
- Baseball bats, hockey sticks, cricket bats, bows and arrows, skateboards and surfboards
- Drones
- Flammable and/or explosive liquids, including lighter fluid and fireworks
- Hookahs
- Extension cords
- Dangerous chemicals including bleach and paint
- Food products with a high risk of spoilage (fresh food requiring refrigeration such as meat, fish and seafood, cheeses, vegetables, and fruits)
Please note that the cruise company may prohibit bringing other items on board and also refuse to allow any item it considers unsuitable.
What alcoholic beverages can I bring on the ship?
It is forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages on board. However, you may bring two bottles of wine or champagne, 750 ml each, for each stateroom with adults on the first day of the cruise only. Any alcoholic beverages beyond this that you bring on the first day will be confiscated and not returned. Any alcoholic beverages purchased on the ship and/or during port calls will be stored by the staff and returned to you at the end of the cruise.
Note: If you choose to consume the wine/champagne you brought with you in the ship's public areas (including bars and restaurants), a corkage fee of $15 per bottle will be charged.
Where can I smoke on the ship?
For the comfort and enjoyment of all guests, the ships are non-smoking. However, Royal Caribbean recognizes that some of its guests smoke. Therefore, designated smoking areas have been set up throughout the ships, equipped with ashtrays and appropriate signage. Smoking is strictly prohibited outside of these areas, including in cabins and private balconies.
What is the minimum age to sail?
The minimum age to sail is six months on the day the cruise begins, or at least 12 months on the day the cruise begins for transatlantic, transpacific, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, South America, and other selected cruises.
To sail without a parent/guardian, or to occupy a single room, the guest must be at least 18 years old on the day the cruise begins for cruises departing from ports in Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. For cruises departing from the USA or Canada, the guest must be at least 21 years old.
Guests under the age of 18 on the day the cruise begins, and not traveling with a parent/guardian, must present a notarized letter from the parent/guardian allowing an adult traveling with the minor to take them on the specific cruise. Without this letter, the minor will not be allowed to board the ship.
Note: Parents/guardians traveling with a minor who has a different last name than theirs must provide official proof such as a birth certificate, marriage documents, or divorce documents to prove they are the parents/guardians of the minor. If a minor is accompanied by a legal guardian, proof must be shown that the escort is indeed a legal guardian.

Additionally, the ship’s crew can prepare a fresh salad, fish wrapped in foil, and more. Note that these meals prepared in the ship's kitchen are not under kosher supervision.
At breakfast, there are no prepared meals, but you can find a variety of sealed kosher products available, such as - cereals, American bagels, cream cheese, and more, which will be available at the free buffet.
Can I find food on the ship that caters to people with special dietary requests?
The cruise line does its best to accommodate your special dietary requests such as allergies to various foods, gluten sensitivity, reduced fat, low sodium, etc. If you have any special requests, it is recommended to inform the agent when making the reservation. Also, it is advisable to consult the dining room manager upon boarding the ship and review the various food options available to you on board.
A variety of vegetarian dishes are available regularly, every day, in the main dining room and the free buffet, the Windjammer Cafe. Vegan dishes are available upon request in the main dining room only.

What are the booking conditions for cruises booked under the NRD rate code - non-refundable deposit program?
An order made with a Non Refundable Deposit (NRD) rate code requires a non-refundable deposit payment at the time of booking confirmation. The deposit will not be refunded in any manner after the order is made and confirmed by full deposit payment for all guests in the room. The full non-refundable deposit must be paid, and the full names and ages of the guests must be provided at the time of booking. The above conditions also apply to bookings of rooms in GTY categories (guarantee rooms) and suites of category GS (Grand Suite) and above on selected cruises.
Please note: It's not possible to book suites from category GS and above or rooms in GTY category with another rate code, the NRD code is the default for the above categories.
On 1.6.2023, Royal Caribbean's policy regarding advance payments for suite bookings changed to 10% of the cruise price, or the standard deposit (which was customary until now), whichever is higher. The new 10% deposit is valid only for bookings made after 1.6.2023. Junior Suite bookings will now only have a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the cruise price. NextCruise bookings already include a 10% deposit for Junior Suite bookings. There are no changes to the RoyalUp program. Upgrades will be made only after the final payment date. Currently, deposits for interior rooms, with a window or balcony, remain unchanged. The change in deposits is currently valid only for individual bookings.
If a guest cancels a booking made under the NRD code more than 60 days before the cruise date, they will be subject to the cancellation conditions of non-refundable deposit bookings, as fully detailed on Royal Caribbean's international website.
If a guest cancels a booking under the NRD code 59 days before the cruise date or less, the Standard cancellation policy of Royal Caribbean will apply instead of the non-refundable deposit program's cancellation conditions.
Whenever a guest changes the ship or the cruise date of an NRD booking, a change fee of $100 per person will be charged, and the charge will be added to the account of the updated booking.
* Terms are correct as of today and may change at the cruise company's discretion
How should I dress on the ship?
Every Royal Caribbean ship has a specific dress code to follow. Here's a brief guide to help you prepare:
Casual: You're on vacation – relax! Jeans, polo shirts, summer dresses, etc., are suitable. Shorts are okay for breakfast and lunch.
Smart Casual: Think of it as dressing for a fancy dinner - buttoned shirts, evening dresses, skirts, pantsuits, elegant blouses, and blazers.
Formal: Wear your best – a suit with a tie, tuxedo, cocktail dresses, and gowns.
Walking barefoot on the ship or wearing swimsuits in restaurants and dining rooms is not allowed.
Dinner in the dining room generally requires Smart Casual attire, with select evenings needing formal wear. The number of formal nights varies by cruise length, generally as follows:
- 3-5 nights cruise – One formal night, usually on day 2
- 6 nights cruise – Two formal nights, usually on days 2 and 5
- 7 nights cruise – Two formal nights, usually on days 2 and 6
- On longer cruises – Check specifics
Additionally, every restaurant on Royal Caribbean ships has a mandatory dress code, detailed on the culinary page.
